The consultant developed a digital solution to automate, simplify, and present a system for handling reports within the Norwegian Tax Administration (Skatteetaten). In addition to creating an improved version of the existing reporting portal, a machine learning model was integrated to process incoming reports. This model performed tasks such as OCR, Named Entity Recognition (NER), and Bertopic clustering, extracting report files, converting them into JSON objects, assigning names and labels, and classifying different reports. After processing, the analyzed data was stored in a database and displayed on a dashboard. The project was delivered as a Minimum Viable Product (MVP), where the machine learning component was fully integrated with the backend, and the backend seamlessly connected to the frontend. The solution was deployed using virtual machines on Microsoft Azure, utilizing Azure CLI, Docker, and resource management for running virtual environments. The consultant’s main role was as lead frontend developer, responsible for integrating the frontend with the backend and ensuring a smooth user experience. Key tasks included developing a functional replica of the existing portal from scratch, as well as creating an improved version for more accurate data processing. These portals were used for user testing. Additionally, the consultant developed a case management dashboard to visualize analyzed reports. Other responsibilities included theoretical development, user testing, setting up Docker containers, and designing in Figma.
